Accreditation & Authorisation

Accreditation:

Accreditation is a process that validates all aspects of a school's operation such as organization and administration, school facilities, the faculty and support staff, student services, health and safety, financial stability as well as the academic programme.

Stonehill International School will seek accreditation from two globally recognised authorities in education: the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Authorisation:

The International Baccalaureate Organisation offers three programmes: The PYP (Primary Years Programme), MYP (Middle Years Programme) and the DP (Diploma). Each programme is independently authorised by the IB.

The IB specifies that all three programmes be introduced and authorised in three stages: the investigation stage, followed by the implementation stage, culminating in full IB authorisation. The entire process of authorisation takes a minimum of three years for PYP and MYP respectively and two years for the DP.

Stonehill will open with PYP and MYP in the investigation stage, moving into implementation stage by the first December.  Diploma authorisation will be obtained at the end of the year the first D1class begins study.

Students graduating from Middle School (M5) after Stonehill receives MYP authorisation, will leave with an IB validated record of achievement. Students who meet  MYP standards in all subjects and who complete a personal project and community service hours can qualify for an MYP Certificate.
