Stonehill International School is a secular, coeducational day school for children aged 3 to 18 years.

 

Date of Opening

September 8th, 2008 

 

Development of the School

At opening, Stonehill enrolled students, age 4 to 14 years in classes P2 through M3 (Pre-K through to Grade 8). A year later, in August 2009, M4 and M5 (Grades 9 and 10) opened. In August 2010, DP1 (Grade 11) opened, allowing the first DP2 (Grade 12) class to graduate at the end of the 2011-12 school year.

 

Curriculum

Stonehill has been designed as the first school in Bangalore to implement all three programmes of the IB (International Baccalaureate). Stonehill opened with a Director, Administration and Teachers recruited from IB schools in Europe and Asia and is moving quickly towards programme authorisation for the:

PYP (Primary Years Programme) - P1 to P8 (Nursery to Grade 5)

MYP (Middle Years Programme)- M1 to M5 (Grades 6 to 10)

Stonehill is authorised for the:

DP (Diploma Programme)- DP1 and DP2 (Grades 11 and 12) 

 

Facilities

Stonehill classes are conducted in three Academic buildings containing cafeteria, multipurpose hall, music, technology, art, and science rooms. There is an Administration building, playgrounds, a swimming pool, changing rooms, three synthetic surface tennis courts, a synthetic surface basketball court and a set of three playing fields.

The Consultants are The Council of International Schools (CIS), the leading international educational consultancy and a leading accreditation agency for international schools.

Governing Council

To ensure the School's educational integrity, the Embassy Group established Stonehill Educational Foundation (SEF) to manage Stonehill as a not-for-profit organization. SEF will be guided by the Governing Council of the School, whose members are selected from prominent members of the community and includes a former Executive Director of the Council of International Schools.

 

Technology

Stonehill has installed state-of-the-art networks and harware and software systems to support all areas of education and communication. All systems from telephones, public address systems and security cameras to the computer and wireless networks are IP based and open to students, teachers and eventually parents, for daily use.

 

Location

Stonehill is located adjacent to the Embassy International Riding School, 5 kms from NH 7, the national highway which connects Bangalore City to the new International Airport and Hyderabad.

 

Campus Description

Stonehill has a generous 33 acre site and the Campus is being built in 3 phases:

Phase 1: Academic Buildings, Administration Building and Sports Facilities which include a 25m heated pool and a shallow pool, synthetic tennis courts, a synthetic basketball/volleyball court, a 400m grass track around a full size football pitch (can be used for hockey or rugby), a second playing field and cricket nets.

Phase 2: Science labs, art studios, library, design technology labs/studios, full size gymnasium with climbing wall and fitness centre, a third playing field and full size cafeteria.

Phase 3: 450 seat auditorium with music, drama and dance rooms.
