Overview

Learning at Stonehill is an exciting journey of discovery guided by the dynamic, inquiry based approach of the International Baccalaureate (IB). The Stonehill curriculum provides students with a broad educational programme which extends learning beyond the academic to the social, ethical, physical, creative and emotional development of each child.

By emphasizing the inter-relatedness of subjects, the Stonehill curriculum enables students to make connections between different areas of knowledge, thus developing in them the ability to be uniquely reflective about their learning.

Stonehill intends to offer the full benefit of the IB by implementing and gaining authorisation for all three of its programmes - the IB Primary Years Programme, leading into the IB Middle Years Programme and culminating in the IB Diploma. Together, they provide a dynamic curriculum framework which enriches the development of students and creates life-long learners. Currently Stonehill is in the "interested school" stage for PYP and MYP programmes. It is expected that Stonehill will enter "candidate school" stage by December 2008 for these programmes, with "authorisation" targeted for the 2010-11 school year.

At opening, Stonehill is inviting applications from students aged 4 to 14 years (Pre-Kg through to Grade 8). A year later, in September 2009, Grade 9 will open. In September 2010, Grade 10 will open. The Governing Council will decide, during the first academic year, whether to open Grade 11 in 2009 or 2010.
